Buttons!

I love the button wall at the shop.  We have wonderful ceramic buttons that are one of a kind.  We have vintage buttons that have been in someone's grandmother's button jar for ages.  We have new buttons on cards.  I don't know what is so captivating about these small jewels but people are drawn in by them.   Special hand crafted items need special buttons.

Yarn..... What do you like?

When we started out on this venture, our goal was to stock the shop with products produced as locally as possible and feature the most natural products possible.  I wanted to feature locally produced yarn and fiber from quality sheep, llamas and alpacas.  I wanted tools from small, local craftspeople.  As the last year has passed, we have changed a bit in focus.  It turns out that what people like in yarn and tools is as broad a spectrum as I can imagine.
The shop has a variety of tools from large and small producers.  Some of these tools I love.  Some of these tools I carry because other people love them.  It turns out that hands that craft have very specific tastes.
The shelves are filled with colorful skeins.   We have wool, cotton, blends and all purpose acrylic.  We add more items as people come in with requests.  I love to see the projects that people create.   The clothing and the gift items we get to see are amazing.   Lots of imagination goes into yarn crafting.
To say that this is fun would be an understatement.  It has been a challenge to create a shop that meets the needs of our community.  It has been a challenge to balance all the aspects of successful business.  Hopefully this adventure will continue for a long time to come.

A New Year!

We have lots planned for this coming year.  There will be classes, events, a lot of new yarns and new colors. The shop has grown so much in the last year.  When I look at pictures of the past few months, we have had to rearrange the shop almost every month to make space for new things.  The most exciting display at the moment is the button wall.  We have hand crafted buttons.  We have cute kids buttons.  We have vintage buttons from the 30's through to the 60's.  They are all on a huge pegboard display that changes weekly.  Our shop sample collection has grown to be it's own display.  We have socks, headbands, mittens, scarves, sweaters and hats.  The samples are made from yarn that we carry so be sure and ask about anything that catches your eye.  I have a scarf on the needles now that should be done soon.  It's made with some of our undyed wool.  I love the natural color and the shading that appears as you work through the skein.  Have a great New Year filled with fantastic projects.
