Favorite Colors

When you think about color, what is the first one to come to mind?
What is your very favorite color?
Has your favorite color changed over time?

Color is a personal thing.  Favorite colors and least favorite colors say a lot about a person.  Choosing a yarn color to work with over a long period of time to make a sweater or a pair of socks becomes a joyful activity or a trudging one depending on the color and the texture of the yarn.

Color controls your driving, influences your buying habits and changes your mood.

Red, is action oriented and sensory.  Always on the go.

Orange is social, likes to be part of a group and loves physical and mental challenges.

Yellow is logical and orderly, full of new ideas.

Green is acceptance, acknowledgement and belonging.

Blue is for a deep need to find inner peace and truth, to live their life according to their ideals and beliefs

Indigo lovers have a need to feel in harmony and at one with the Universe and to be accepted by others.

Purple or violet is for a deep need for emotional security and to create order and perfection in all areas of your life, including your spiritual life.

Pink is for a deep need to be accepted and loved unconditionally.

Turquoise is for emotional balance in your life, hopes and dreams and living by your own terms.

Magenta, is a non-conformist who sees life from a different point of view.

Brown is for a deep need for a safe, secure, simple and comfortable existence.

Black is a need for power and control

White is for  simplicity in your own life, independence and self-reliance.

Gray is a middle of the road type, cool, conserved, composed and reliable.

Silver is for intuitive and insightful and have a strong connection with a higher spiritual guidance.

Gold is charisma, personality and individuality.

Frustration 2

Today we took a road trip to Primary Childrens Medical Center in SLC.  We go there on at least an annual basis and sometimes much more frequently.  We needed to see the asthma doc.  The asthma doc measures my kid's lung function and adjusts the meds so that we can live life.  Today he listened to my report, read the reports from the ER and asked, "What happened?"

Darned if I know.  We were cruising along with some minor bumps, allergy season hits and we have some more frequent use of the rescue meds and nebulizer.  Then we had a pretty dramatic crash this week.  Two trips to the ER and then an overnight stay.  The staff at the local ER were very glad that I already had a scheduled appointment with the specialist.

Long story short- adjust the meds, go home and take it very easy for a while.  If things crash again, call the clinic.  Please come in again in the fall or sooner if things go south again.

What I've learned this weekend:
          1.  If your gut says go to the ER, go.
          2.  If you've tried everything you know how to do and it isn't working, go to the ER.
          3.  It's really hard to keep an 11 year old down and quiet.  They have to learn through tough
experience that getting up and active too soon is pretty painful.
          4.  The doc really meant down and quiet.
Peak flows measure the stress of up and active too soon.
          5.   A serious flare up will happen at the least convenient time in your life by grand design.
                It is a test.
          6.   I take the good  periods for granted and am surprised by the flares every time.
          7.   I have great help in my child's corner.  The doc helps a lot and the ER staff is great.

Stress?

Stress is a good thing because most of the time it compels us to make changes.  The "uncomfortableness" of our body in a stressful situation forces us to do something.  Options often include fleeing, handling the situation differently, seeking help, or a combination of actions seeking to be in a comfortable position again.

A few days ago I began a regular exercise program (again).  I had had a consistent one for several years, lost a lot of weight and then.... got lazy.  Last school year I gained most of it back.  It was a stressful year and I chose to eat my way through it :).

This year is beginning to be very challenging and I am already in an exercising routine.  I woke up this morning actually ready to tackle all of the big things on the list today.  Remarkable change.

Yarn is good therapy.  My lovely spouse says  the shop is cheaper than counseling sessions and meds.  He is right about that, but my treadmill is great therapy.  The hard things I have to do today are still there.  But I can do hard things.  Without french fries.

Changes, changes...

The name "The Painted Sheep" belongs officially to a very nice person in Connecticut somewhere.  She and I visited today.  She called to say that she officially owns the name "The Painted Sheep" and I would need to change the name of the shop.  For what could have been a terribly nasty encounter, all is well.  The paperwork will take a bit.  Changing the signage and the business forms will take a bit.  We may have to work a bit harder for a while.  But I did get something important out of this and I need to make sure it is recorded in "print".  In my real life, I work with what is politely called a lot of "challenging" people.  All of us have "challenging" people in our lives.  Once in a great while, when you commit a really serious wrong, it is possible to work things out without having a meltdown and going crazy.  This was one of those times.  Kudos to the original  "Painted Sheep".

We need something wonderful to call this place.  Most of you who frequent here call it "Julia's Shop" anyway and that is probably what it will remain unless someone in the week can come up with something else.
Send your ideas my way.
